The Rucksack Project is back and Cool to be Kind is calling on the people of Chelmsford to donate much needed supplies for those experiencing homelessness this winter.
As temperatures drop, those living on the streets face even harsher conditions. A simple donation can mean the difference between enduring a bitter winter and having warmth and comfort.
Launched in 2015, the project has seen incredible support, with more than a thousand rucksacks filled with essential items donated to rough sleepers during the coldest months.
It is simple to take part:
- Donate a rucksack (with two straps)
- Fill it with warm clothing, a sleeping bag, and other essentials – these can be items you no longer need or purchased from a charity shop. For a full list of required items, visit the Rucksack Project webpage.
Rucksacks can be dropped off at Chelmsford Quaker Meeting House, Rainsford Road, CM1 2QL, every Sunday between 11:30am and 12:30pm.
Dan Skeates, Co-founder and Chair of Cool to be Kind, said: “With winter just around the corner, the need for donations has never been greater.
“The Rucksack Project has had a real impact and with the generosity of our community, we can continue to make a difference this winter.”
